TRIUMPH CASTOR COMPENSATORS
| The
camber compensator greatly reduces this "wheel-tuck" tendency.
It is a rather simple operation, but very effective. In fact it is
more effective than the swing spring modification on the later
Spitfires, because it accomplishes the task without having to reduce
roll stiffness. The new camber compensator which is now available,
is based on the original design with a few minor modifications to reduce
assembly costs. Also, link hardware includes Polyurethane
bushings, where the originals were rubber
At US$195 it is less expensive to add a camber compensator than
to upgrade to a swing spring.. |

of Competition Dept at Triumph is......
"One of the best suspension modifications you can have on a Triumph Spitfire". Web Site: CLICK HERE |
The
competition department headed by R. W. (Kas) Kastner recognized very
early in Spitfire production the importance of eliminating the wheel
tuck problem in competition. So a camber compensator was designed
to counteract this problem. The accessory (competition part number
V 170) consists of three mounting brackets a leaf spring and attaching
hardware. The center bracket is mounted to the bottom 3
differential bolts.

TRIUMPH GT6 SHOCK MOUNTS
On the GT6's with Rotoflex suspension the shock mounts are normally welded onto the inside of the wheel wells. While this is satisfactory for most street purposes, the shock mounts are not really strong enough for racing. Furthermore, the stock mounts restrict the size of tire that can be used, because extremely wide tires will rub against the shock absorber. Web Site: CLICK HERE |
Two
different brackets have been designed to solve such problems. The
first is a "Race Only" bracket that requires some cutting of
the inside bodywork in order to fit the body over the bracket. The
other is a more modest design that still attaches to the frame but does
not require as much cutting and ends up being in approximately the same
place as the stock bracket. But
because it does not attach to the fender-well,
it is much stronger. The very bottom of the inside fender-well
requires trimming so that it fits over the "street" bracket.
This modification is not outwardly visible and does not interfere with
the inside of the trunk area. GT6's need to have the old
bracket and reinforcement plate removed for clearance.
